Next journey.
I looked into my sister’s eyes and told her it was okay to let go.
She told me she was afraid and at first, I said don’t be afraid,
In a sort of haphazard motherly way, in order to comfort her.
As soon as the words spilled out of my mouth,
I realized I had disrespected her sincerity with my selfish need to make her feel secure.
How could I tell someone so close to the greatest unknown of their life that they needn’t be afraid.
I can barely make phone calls to make doctor appointments...
I told her it was okay to feel scared.
